This historical landmark of the King Neptune Fountain guards the entrance of Malaga Cove Plaza in Palos Verdes, California. Neptune stands majestically over the mermaids and cherubs as the artist creates the color fantasy of a life-like feeling. Please, take a second and tell us your thoughts on this painting. What others have said about King Neptune: You can be very proud of this painting. It looks rather like a John Singer Sargent. He did several fountains like yours. No better artsit to emulate! Steve, I pass this fountain every morning and every evening, and I think of your painting. And of you, and of Trudy. Keep painting. Jim Temple The colors of the light and shadows drew me in. The details as well as the lost areas in the sculptured stone made me look even closer. The colors are crisp and clear. The sky is handled very well. I think it is the best. The second best to me is the New Orleans Church in the square. I like to tones of the building and I like all the colors in the people at the bottom of the painting. Your paintings have a nice feeling to them. I was born and raised in Palos Verdes Estatte. Father Neptune brings back many fond memories. DEAR STEVE, STILL LOOKING AT YOUR WONDERFUL PAINTINGS. NOT SURE IF KING NEPTUNE IS MY FAVORITE BUT IT IS BEAUTIFUL. THANKS FOR LETTING US SEE THEM. BETTY This was one my favorite places, at the PV Drug store in the plaza, during my high school days (RUHS '53). The fountain certainly was a curiosity and an icon to me. Dont go in for indepth discussion anymore. Did all that at Art College. Just love this picture, beautiful colours, beautiful style. Just Beautiful. Subject matter, clean color, good use of light and reflective light wonderful texture control and the shadows make the painting I feel like I'm standing at the bottom of the statue when I look at it. I love the colors and the perspective. i like this one the best because it shines with color and the unity of this all ties in together with the background its extremely beautitful in every way possibl Don't know - just is.
